After watching the TEDTalks video, I have to say I agree with
the point that Sherry Turkle is trying to make. Of course the quick advancement
of technology can greatly help the human race in multiple ways such as health,
transportation etc. It can also launch home careers, and help people interact
with each other. But It seems that now a days people are more tuned into their
devices than they are with actual other people. I think she makes a great point
about how it is important for children to have conversations when their young
for development. And If Kids are glued to their phones during their early
years, by the time they are older they will not know how to have a conversation
with another human being.
I agree that kids should have plenty of face to face communication. If they do not, their ability to empathize with one another will be greatly reduced, which can be disastrous for all of their relationships and could lead to negative effects in society in general.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is indeed a trend that parents and all people with smartphones have to be aware of and stress the fact that face-to-face communication is essential.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point about how kids won't know how to have real life conversations if they only keep using their phones to communicate during their early years.
